Washing Strawberries


Washing Strawberries: Remember to wash Strawberries right before you consume them.  To wash strawberries, either rinse them quickly in gently running water or agitate them momentarily in a bowl of water to release any foreign matter. Drain them and pat them dry on paper towels to avoid water absorption.

Strawberries should be eaten as soon as possible and are best if used fresh.  If you must store strawberries, place them on a paper towel in a tightly-covered container in the refrigerator for 2 to 3 days.  They may also be frozen or in pieces.  To freeze, wash and hull, sprinkle with 1/3 cup sugar, and toss gently with your hands.  Place in freezer containers or zip-top bags.  Use within 1 year.
